Artesian acquired the 21 acre site from the MOD in 1994 with 73 houses and 40,000 square feet of redundant non-residential buildings. The housing was divided into two areas; 26 homes built in the 1920’s and set around Vincent Square were modernised and sold freehold, whilst the remaining houses, mostly built in the 1950’s, were refurbished and held for rental. Planning consent was eventually granted to replace the redundant buildings with 48 new dwellings of which 42, along with the remaining 47 existing dwellings, were sold to Taylor Woodrow in 2005. The last 6 plots have since been sold leaving Artesian with only a three acre field.
